Manual Training

Does your job involve moving loads using your hands and body – for example lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling or carrying? Do you manage or train people who do this kind of work? Are you a safety representative? Do you carry out assessments?  Then the H&G Manual Handling Guidelines will help you.

It explains some of the problems that can be associated with manual handling. It also sets out best practice for dealing with them, and for reducing the risk of injury.

Employers and employees both have responsibilities and duties under the Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992, amended in 2002. But quite apart from the law, avoiding injury from manual handling is best practice and common sense. It’s good for people, and good for our business.
